Remote Tax Preparer / Staff Tax Accountant

About the role

Wandering CPA is seeking a detail‑oriented Tax Preparer / Staff Tax Accountant to join its remote team. The position supports a growing client base by preparing federal tax returns, maintaining workpapers, and assisting senior reviewers within established workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare federal tax returns for individuals (1040), partnerships (1065), S‑Corporations (1120S) and corporations (1120).
• Import and reconcile trial balances, post adjusting journal entries, and organize tax documentation.
• Maintain and update supporting workpapers in accordance with firm procedures.
• Assist with bookkeeping, monthly and year‑end close processes, and client record management.
• Communicate project status and deadlines proactively to clients and internal teams.
• Collaborate with senior reviewers, contribute to process‑improvement initiatives, and support special projects during peak seasons.

Required profile

• English proficiency at C1 level.
• Minimum 2 years of U.S. tax preparation experience in a public‑accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of U.S. tax and accounting principles.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to follow structured processes and work remotely with U.S.‑based firms.
