Process Improvement Engineer – Mining & Metallurgy

About the role

Eramine Sudamérica SA is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to drive optimisation and continuous‑improvement initiatives at its high‑altitude lithium‑carbonate plant in Salta, Argentina. The role supports plant operations, engineering projects and CAPEX execution in a dynamic, complex industrial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and implement process improvement initiatives to boost plant efficiency.
• Provide technical support to the Engineering Department during project execution.
• Develop and validate mass and energy balances for operational control and expansion projects.
• Ensure alignment between integrity plans and actual plant performance.
• Support CAPEX projects and operational teams with process engineering expertise.
• Analyse plant performance data to identify optimisation opportunities.
• Collaborate with external consultants (e.g., Hatch) on technical deliverables and engineering reviews.
• Maintain compliance with process standards, safety requirements and operational procedures.
• Contribute to plant readiness for the CLP 1.5 expansion.
• Participate actively in continuous‑improvement and efficiency programmes during ramp‑up and nominal operation.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in process engineering within industrial or mining settings.
• Proven track record in process optimisation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Experience developing mass and energy balances.
• Knowledge of CAPEX project execution and engineering interfaces.
• Familiarity with data analysis and process simulation tools (preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work under high‑pressure, roster‑based schedules on‑site.
• Advanced English is an asset.
