Infection Prevention Nurse – Skilled Nursing Facility

About the role

The Infection Prevention Nurse will lead and manage the infection prevention and control program at Del Rosa Villa Post Acute, ensuring the safety of residents, staff, and visitors. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting best practices in infection control.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement, and oversee the facility’s infection prevention and control program.
• Ensure compliance with CDC, OSHA, CMS, and state guidelines.
• Conduct ongoing infection surveillance, data collection, and trend analysis.
• Investigate infection outbreaks and implement corrective action plans.
• Educate and train staff on infection prevention protocols, standard precautions, and PPE usage.
• Monitor antibiotic stewardship programs and report findings to leadership.
• Collaborate with nursing, environmental services, and leadership teams to maintain infection control standards.
• Maintain required logs, reports, and documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Participate in QAPI initiatives and regulatory surveys as needed.

Required profile

• Active California RN or LVN license (RN preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, or similar healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of infection control practices, epidemiology, and aseptic techniques.
• Experience with surveillance, reporting, and regulatory compliance preferred.
• Infection Prevention Certification (CIC) preferred but not required.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities.
