Health Care Aide (Urgent Care)

About the role

The Health Care Aide (HCA) will join the Urgent Care team at Concordia Hospital, providing essential bedside support to patients under the supervision of registered nurses. This part‑time position (0.70 FTE) works evenings and weekends, delivering compassionate care in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and mobility.
• Support nursing staff by monitoring vital signs, documenting observations, and reporting changes in patient condition.
• Maintain a clean and safe patient environment, following infection‑control protocols.
• Provide basic wound care, feeding assistance, and comfort measures as directed.
• Participate in team huddles and handovers to ensure continuity of care.

Required profile

• Recent patient‑care experience (within the past four years) or equivalent.
• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized college or educational institution.
• Current CPR certification; BCLS certification required for Urgent Care and must be renewed annually.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends on a flexible schedule.
