Health Care Aide

About the role

The Health Care Aide (HCA) joins a multidisciplinary team at Concordia Hospital to provide direct patient support under the supervision of nursing staff. This part‑time position contributes to safe, compassionate care for residents and patients across various units.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses with daily patient care activities.
• Provide basic supportive care such as hygiene, mobility assistance, and feeding.
• Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report changes to the nursing team.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, following infection‑control protocols.
• Document care activities accurately in the patient’s record.

Required profile

• Recent patient care experience (within the last four years) or equivalent.
• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized college or educational institution.
• Current CPR certification in accordance with employer policy.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification for ICU or Urgent Care positions, with annual recertification.
• Ability to organize, prioritize workload and follow instructions.
