Financial Analyst

About the role

As a Financial Analyst at Canonical you will join the FP&A team and work closely with the wider finance organisation. You will help shape monthly business reviews, quarterly forecasts, annual planning and financial models while driving data‑based alignment across functions.

Key responsibilities

• Generate insights into business operations by analysing unit economics, variance drivers and key performance indicators.
• Support quarterly and annual financial planning, forecasting, reporting and monthly budget reviews.
• Provide analysis of commercial initiatives that have strategic or financial impact.
• Create objective processes for a fast‑growing tech company to scale efficiently and make data‑driven decisions.
• Support cross‑functional change projects aimed at improving systems, processes and data accuracy.
• Partner with stakeholders to communicate progress against financial and strategic targets.

Required profile

• Exceptional academic record from high school through university.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities with a track record of exceeding expectations.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills in English.
• Curiosity, flexibility and accountability with a self‑motivated attitude.
• Willingness to travel twice a year for company events.

Required skills

• Proficiency in spreadsheets and financial modeling.
• Understanding of core accounting principles.
• Experience with Business Intelligence reporting, CRM and ERP systems.
• Experience with budgeting and planning software or data‑visualisation tools.
