Documentation Compliance Reviewer – Engineering Technician IV

About the role

The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking a Documentation Compliance Reviewer at the Engineering Technician IV level. In this role you will oversee the proper documentation of infrastructure improvements funded by various state and federal revenue streams, ensuring compliance with statutes, regulations, and grant requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor projects for compliance with Bureau of Local Roads and Streets policies, Illinois statutes, federal regulations, and the Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA).
• Review resolutions, maintenance programs, engineering agreements, contract awards, changes, payments, invoices, bank records, and close‑out summaries for local public agencies.
• Provide guidance and education to urban and rural local public agencies on documentation requirements and statutory changes.
• Assist agencies in preparing and maintaining accurate records for Motor Fuel Tax, Township Bridge Program, General Obligation bonds, and other special funding sources.

Required profile

• Experience working with local public agencies on infrastructure projects and funding compliance.
• Strong knowledge of Illinois state statutes, federal regulations, and grant accountability requirements.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex policy documents and administrative procedures.
