Director, Construction – Major Mining Projects

About the role

The Director, Construction – Major Mining Projects provides strategic direction and project management for large‑scale mining construction programmes. The role ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within or below budget, and in line with contractual obligations while supporting Worley’s focus on sustainable energy and resource solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a single major project or multiple complex construction programmes across the mining sector.
• Visualise, design and implement new technical concepts and functional solutions.
• Develop and oversee strategic programmes, policies and organisational change initiatives.
• Coordinate with regional and location management on matters influencing business results.
• Operate with broad authority, making long‑range planning and technical decisions with minimal guidance.
• Lead and evaluate direct and indirect reports, handling performance, training, discipline and remuneration.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent in a related discipline, or comparable professional experience.
• Typically 20+ years of relevant experience in construction, mining or large‑scale project delivery.
• Proven ability to make independent decisions and manage multiple functional disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of business operations and experience leading organisational change.
