Counsel / Senior Counsel – Legal Services (Buenos Aires)

About the role

Chevron is seeking a Counsel or Senior Counsel to join its Enterprise Legal Services team in Buenos Aires. The role provides transactional and governance support for Chevron’s global portfolio across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Provide contractual, commercial, and regulatory legal support for global contracts.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage a variety of agreements while mitigating legal and commercial risks.
• Collaborate with tax, HR, finance, governance, IP, compliance, environmental, insurance, and project‑management experts to integrate agreements into a comprehensive risk‑management framework.
• Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations; develop legal strategies and advise on associated risks.
• Prepare and coordinate governance documentation, including consents, resolutions, and corporate action materials.
• Maintain accurate subsidiary records and ensure proper retention of executed governance documents.
• Review intercompany financing requests for clarity, completeness, and corporate separateness considerations.
• Deliver clear, timely reports and client training on contracting, compliance, and liability matters.

Required profile

• Law degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in Argentina.
• Minimum of 5 years of transactional legal experience, including complex contractual negotiations.
• Demonstrated ability to advise on a broad range of legal issues and to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
