Conflicts Office Associate

About the role

JPMorgan Chase's Global Conflicts office, within the Corporate Legal department, reviews the firm's transactional activity to identify and manage actual or perceived conflicts of interest and related reputation risk. It gathers information on relationships, assesses potential conflicts between them and advises senior leaders on the way forward, from business selection conversations to limiting business activities and managing deal team staffing. The role suits someone wanting a broad view of activities across the firm's Lines of Business, including high-volume commercial and investment banking.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze requests for conflicts clearance with senior team members and document the results in the Conflicts system of record
• Research JPMorgan's relationships with entities involved in proposed transactions using internal systems
• Draft the results of this research for senior colleagues in Global Conflicts, Global Banking and Legal
• Take part in ad hoc projects supporting the Global Conflicts team

Required profile

• University degree (4 years) or equivalent
• 3+ years of work experience in a fast-moving analytical environment
• A law degree (Juris Doctor or equivalent) is highly desirable; admission to practice is not required
• Candidates with a law degree but less than 3 years of experience are also encouraged to apply
• Understanding of investment banking products, services and transactions is highly desirable
