Commercial Controller – Manager

About the role

The Commercial Controller serves as the commercial and financial governance lead for strategic engagements, partnering with senior leaders to maximize profitability, manage risk, and drive informed decision‑making throughout the engagement lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop deep understanding of engagement economics, commercial drivers, contractual commitments and business objectives.
• Act as primary commercial advisor to engagement leadership, providing financial recommendations and governance.
• Lead financial reviews, including actuals vs. budget, forecasts and Estimate‑to‑Complete analyses.
• Establish early‑warning indicators and recommend actions to protect revenue recognition and improve margins.
• Drive commercial readiness for contract renewals, extensions, amendments and scope changes.
• Monitor key commercial clauses, flag non‑compliance and initiate corrective actions.
• Identify opportunities for fee uplift, pricing optimisation and improved contract profitability.
• Ensure adherence to EY standards, policies, pricing structures, billing protocols and contractual requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in commercial and contract finance, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and profitability analysis.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders in a matrix organisation and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑support skills.
• Project‑management, transformation or process‑improvement experience, preferably in a Big 4 environment.
• Commercially minded, proactive and comfortable challenging assumptions with data‑driven insights.
