Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Svitla Systems Inc. is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join its Mexico team. You will design, build, and maintain high‑performance services that support millions of job seekers and employers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch.
• Design, implement, and evolve REST and GraphQL APIs for internal and consumer‑facing products.
• Build and optimise batch‑processing pipelines for data‑intensive workflows.
• Leverage LLM‑assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) while applying engineering judgment to review AI‑generated code.
• Participate in code reviews, on‑call rotations, and incident response to ensure service reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and platform teams to deliver features that move the needle.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java (primary) and comfortable working with Kotlin.
• Hands‑on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and REST API design.
• Practical knowledge of GraphQL APIs and federated graphs.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases, async messaging (Kafka), and distributed systems concepts.
• Ability to work independently on moderately complex problems.
