Associate Counsel – Commercial Contracts

About the role

American Express is seeking a motivated junior lawyer to join its Legal Services Team in Buenos Aires. The role supports an international portfolio, providing commercial contract advice in both Spanish and English.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and manage legal risk for an international portfolio across LAC, EMEA and APAC regions.
• Draft, review, analyze and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including procurement, marketing, sponsorship and data‑protection contracts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel in multiple jurisdictions to obtain and finalize legal advice.
• Support internal governance, approval processes and company secretarial matters.

Required profile

• Argentina‑qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of experience in commercial contracts.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to communicate clearly in both English and Spanish.
• Experience in in‑house legal work, preferably within financial services.

Required skills

• Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Legal research and analysis across multiple jurisdictions.
• Data protection and cybersecurity contract support.
