Accountant – Buenos Aires

About the role

Pacific International Lines is seeking an Accountant to join its Buenos Aires office. The role ensures accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with local and group accounting standards, supporting the company’s global shipping operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing in accordance with local GAAP (NCIF) and NIIF.
• Maintain statutory accounting books and electronic ledgers required by National Customs and Super Sociedades.
• Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and social security accruals.
• Manage fixed assets, depreciation and related reporting.
• Prepare annual statutory financial statements, including notes, under NCIF.
• Consolidate monthly reporting to headquarters using Oracle GFS/FCCS within the Day +5 deadline.
• Apply exchange‑rate rules for financial reporting in line with National Customs regulations.
• Guarantee full compliance with national and municipal tax requirements, including income tax, VAT, withholding tax and other filings.
• Calculate and validate tax provisions and deferred tax under NCIF.
• Coordinate with tax advisors, regional tax teams and HQ tax on fiscal interpretations.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Proven experience in Argentine accounting and statutory reporting.
• Strong knowledge of local GAAP (NCIF), NIIF, and Argentine tax regulations.
• Familiarity with electronic invoicing (Factura Electrónica) and National Customs documentation.
• Ability to act as the legal accounting representative for the country.
• Analytical mindset with excellent organizational skills.
