Unit Assistant – Outpatient Surgery

About the role

The Unit Assistant provides essential clerical and patient‑care support to the Outpatient Surgery unit at Concordia Hospital. Working under the supervision of the Clinical Manager and nursing staff, you will help ensure smooth daily operations and a safe environment for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Perform front‑desk duties including answering phones, greeting patients, and managing appointments.
• Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic health information systems.
• Assist Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, and Licensed Practical Nurses with basic patient care tasks as directed.
• Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, supply inventory, and ensure the unit’s administrative area is organized.
• Support the unit’s workflow by coordinating with other departments and responding to patient inquiries.

Required profile

• Recent patient‑care experience (within the last four years) or equivalent.
• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Health Unit Clerk certificate from a recognized institution.
• Health Care Aide certificate from a recognized institution.
• Current CPR certification and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as required by employer policy.
