Technical Support Engineer – Drilling Services

About the role

Join Baker Hughes' Drilling Services team as a Technical Support Engineer, providing high‑quality project delivery and ensuring customer success in downhole drilling activities. You will act as a subject‑matter expert, supporting field operations and driving continuous improvement across performance‑based contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the Manage the Job Cycle (MtJC) process.
• Serve as the subject‑matter expert for your support area.
• Provide technical assistance to the field via online tools, phone calls, and technical papers.
• Submit best practices, case histories, and lessons learned to the knowledge‑management database.
• Follow up on field failures that require technology involvement and share findings across the organization.
• Raise alerts for unfamiliar technical issues and coach wellsite personnel.
• Communicate issues and lessons learned to Engineering and Technology teams.
• Collaborate with assigned teams to identify performance challenges, root causes, and corrective actions.
• Conduct after‑action reviews for all jobs.
• Deliver on‑demand support according to the product portfolio or on‑call schedule.
• Mentor junior technical support staff and engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
• Initiative, self‑driven and flexible attitude.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to develop and mentor others.
• Availability for on‑call duties outside normal business hours.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of PL technology and service‑delivery requirements.
• Significant operational experience in drilling or related fields.
