Software Engineer – Ubuntu Server Certification

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Server Certification team. You will develop and maintain Python‑based testing tools that validate Ubuntu Server on the latest enterprise hardware, ensuring a smooth out‑of‑the‑box experience for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and contribute to open‑source testing frameworks such as Checkbox and Testflinger.
• Troubleshoot hardware compatibility, functionality and performance issues on Ubuntu Server.
• Provide technical support to hardware partners during certification efforts.
• Educate partners on Canonical tools, processes and product roadmaps.
• Assist internal teams with deployments of Datacenter and Cloud products on partner hardware.
• Work remotely with occasional travel (2‑4 times per year) for events and meetings.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Python and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with server‑class hardware and Ubuntu Linux.
• Understanding of virtualization and cloud computing concepts.
• Comfortable interacting with customers and partners.
