Services & Development Technician (Engineering Technician IV)

About the role

The Services & Development Technician supports the district’s Communication Center and oversees the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) infrastructure. This salaried, full‑time position ensures safe and efficient highway operations across all counties in the district while providing 24/7 on‑call support.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, operate, and maintain the district Communication Center, including staffing and after‑hours call handling.
• Coordinate all phases of the ITS and related computer hardware/software systems.
• Maintain radio equipment for vehicles, portable units, and facility stations.
• Assist with the Asset Management Program (AMP) and Environmental Management Information System (EMIS).
• Monitor the district operating budget and support duty officers with 24/7 response duties.

Required profile

• Experience supervising a communications or operations center.
• Ability to manage complex transportation‑technology projects.
• Strong organizational skills for budget and program assistance.
• Willingness to be on‑call and respond to emergencies at any time.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components.
• Familiarity with radio communication equipment and maintenance.
• Understanding of asset and environmental management information systems.
