Senior Protection and Control Engineer

About the role

Our client, a specialist engineering organisation, is seeking a Senior Protection and Control Engineer to lead the P&C scope on high‑voltage substation projects. You will own the design, documentation and verification phases, working closely with primary engineers, clients and contractors to deliver safe, reliable and standards‑compliant systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design protection and control schemes, automation and telecommunications for HV substations.
• Produce and review P&C documentation such as single‑line diagrams, trip matrices, schematics, wiring and logic diagrams.
• Select and specify protection relays, meters, communication devices and control panels per project specifications.
• Coordinate with primary engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
• Support protection coordination studies and verify system reliability across all voltage levels.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to confirm compliance with design intent and standards.
• Engage with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and keep projects on schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Several years of experience in protection and control engineering for high‑voltage substations.
• Proven ability to manage deliverables from concept through handover.
• Strong technical judgment and experience with international standards.
