Senior Project Manager, Laboratory

About the role

ICON plc is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead laboratory operations within its Central Laboratories division. You will design, oversee, and analyse clinical trial activities, ensuring high‑quality data delivery and supporting innovative therapeutic development.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee clinical laboratory workstreams, guaranteeing deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
• Act as the primary client contact for ICON Central Laboratories services, managing study set‑up and day‑to‑day operations.
• Attend and represent ICL at client meetings, providing regular study updates and progress reports.
• Manage studies in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
• Represent Project Management in internal inter‑departmental and inter‑divisional meetings.

Required profile

• Solid experience in clinical laboratory operations with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, or a related field.
• Previous project‑management experience in a laboratory or clinical‑research setting.
• Strong leadership skills, capable of mentoring junior project managers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for client and internal interactions.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organisational skills for documentation, timelines, and budgets.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% as required.
