Senior Middleware Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Middleware Engineer to own the design, deployment, performance and reliability of our enterprise messaging platforms. You will act as the technical authority for RabbitMQ, Redis and Azure Service Bus, ensuring scalable and observable integration across mission‑critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, deploy and operate RabbitMQ, Redis and Azure Service Bus across all environments.
• Design event‑driven integration patterns such as pub/sub, competing consumers, sagas and request‑reply.
• Lead performance tuning of brokers, cluster topology and namespace configurations.
• Define standards for message schema design, versioning and serialization (JSON, Avro, Protobuf).
• Implement high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions for all middleware components.
• Establish end‑to‑end observability using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana and alerting.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps and cloud architecture teams on integration designs.
• Maintain middleware security posture (TLS, RBAC/ACL, Managed Identity, secrets management).
• Drive Infrastructure‑as‑Code provisioning with Terraform, Bicep or Ansible and CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Lead incident response for severe outages and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in enterprise messaging, event‑driven architecture and distributed systems integration.
• Proven senior‑level technical authority for middleware platforms.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to lead incident response.
• Experience mentoring and producing architectural documentation.

Required skills

• RabbitMQ (AMQP 0‑9‑1, exchanges, queues, quorum, lazy, stream queues).
• Redis (Cluster, Sentinel, eviction policies).
• Azure Service Bus (namespaces, geo‑redundancy, Managed Identity).
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools: Terraform, Bicep, Ansible.
• Observability: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Message serialization formats: JSON, Avro, Protobuf.
• Security: TLS, RBAC/ACL, certificate management.
• CI/CD pipeline integration and automated testing.
