Senior Lead VMware Engineer – SDN & Automation

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Lead VMware Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of software‑defined networking (SDN) solutions for modern data‑center environments. The role combines deep networking expertise with strong software engineering skills to automate and scale infrastructure across multi‑cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creation and implementation of SDN solutions for highly‑resilient, scalable data‑centers, ensuring performance and timeline targets.
• Design and develop network automation frameworks and infrastructure‑as‑code tools using Python, Go, JavaScript, Rust and shell scripting.
• Architect and deploy SDN and orchestration systems across AWS, Azure, GCP and private clouds, integrating monitoring and reliability tools.
• Maintain APIs and tooling that interact with network devices, controllers and monitoring platforms, adhering to clean‑code standards.
• Collaborate with network architects, security teams, product owners and engineers in an Agile Scrum environment, conducting code reviews and troubleshooting.
• Mentor junior engineers on automation best practices and guide technical direction by evaluating emerging SDN and AI‑assisted development technologies.
• Promote AI‑assisted engineering practices, establishing validation standards for secure coding, automated testing and reusable patterns.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in network infrastructure development, DevOps networking, or related roles.
• Proven track record leading development projects in Agile, cross‑functional teams.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (BGP, VRF, MPLS, IP, TCP, UDP) and cloud networking (VPC, CNI, hybrid connectivity).
