Senior Backend Engineer – API (Remote, LATAM)

About the role

Hopper Technology Solutions is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate a public API that enables partners to create world‑class travel portals. You will work closely with a high‑performing foundation team of engineers, designers, and product managers, delivering new features quickly while providing top‑tier support for partner integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a public API used by external partners.
• Operate the API in production, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate asynchronously with engineers, designers, product managers, and partner teams.
• Identify and implement engineering improvements for the product and team.
• Participate in a low‑meeting, high‑alignment work environment.

Required profile

• Strong drive to dive into unfamiliar codebases and deliver results fast.
• Product‑focused mindset with a clear sense of customer‑centric quality.
• Experience building, documenting, and operating public APIs.
• Willingness to learn or existing experience with distributed systems in Scala.

Required skills

• Scala programming language.
• Google Cloud Platform services.
