Senior Backend Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join a globally distributed engineering team focused on digital finance and blockchain technologies. The role involves building and maintaining high‑performance backend systems that power financial services used worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to translate requirements into robust architectures.
• Improve and optimise existing Node.js services for reliability and performance.
• Develop new integrations with distributed and micro‑service architectures using RPC calls.
• Write and optimise complex queries for MySQL and MongoDB supporting operational, financial and compliance processes.
• Drive platform scalability initiatives to ensure real‑time responsiveness.
• Apply security best practices to protect infrastructure, transactions and user data.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews and continuous‑improvement activities.
• Support the evolution of messaging systems, caching layers and job‑queue architectures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience with JavaScript and Node.js backend development.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems design.
• Proven experience building large‑scale platforms or applications.
• Hands‑on experience with relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies and frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of backend security concepts and secure API development.
• Experience with high‑availability, scalability optimisation and real‑time systems.
