Senior Accountant

About the role

Western Union is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its regional finance team. You will be responsible for preparing and analysing financial statements, supporting month‑end and year‑end closings, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams across the LACA region.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse financial statements, balance‑sheet accounts and other reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, and investigate variances.
• Review and validate journal entries to ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting records.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities and provide timely financial information.
• Partner with Settlement, Finance and other teams to ensure correct accounting treatment of products and transactions.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
• Participate in regional accounting activities for Panama, Chile and other LACA countries.
• Contribute to automation and process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; recently qualified accountants are encouraged to apply.
• 2+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, account reconciliations or audit support.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial‑statement preparation.
• Experience working with external auditors and cross‑functional finance stakeholders.
• Intermediate to advanced English proficiency for a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of automation or AI tools for finance processes.
