Remote Accountant (US GAAP) – Argentina/Uruguay

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing startup, is looking for a remote Accountant with solid US GAAP experience to own the full accounting function. The role is based in Argentina or Uruguay and works closely with the Director of Finance and senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Own the general ledger, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes and prepare GAAP‑compliant financial statements.
• Analyze financial results, budget variances and support board material preparation.
• Handle ASC 606 revenue recognition, documentation and policy questions.
• Serve as primary contact for the annual external audit and coordinate audit requests.
• Develop and improve internal controls and accounting processes.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, including bill coding, approvals and payments.
• Maintain fixed‑asset schedules, depreciation and drive automation of accounting workflows.

Required profile

• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably a mix of Big Four public accounting and industry roles.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Self‑directed, comfortable with ambiguity and able to make proactive recommendations.
• Excellent written communication in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
• Interest in automating and streamlining accounting processes using modern tools.
