Procurement IT Category Manager (Fixed Term, 1 Year)

About the role

Hitachi Vantara is seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement IT Category Manager to lead and optimise the sourcing and procurement of IT hardware, software and services across its global organisation. The role drives cost savings, mitigates risk and ensures high-quality IT solutions aligned with business objectives. It is a fixed-term position of 1 year.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for IT hardware, software and services, including market analysis, supplier identification and negotiation plans.
• Lead end-to-end procurement for complex IT projects, from requirements gathering and RFP development to contract negotiation, supplier selection and performance management.
• Work with IT leadership, legal and finance to understand business needs and support their objectives.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement and value creation.
• Manage supplier relationships, run regular performance reviews and drive continuous improvement with key IT vendors.
• Monitor market trends, technological advances and industry best practices.
• Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, ethical guidelines and external regulations.
• Develop and track KPIs for IT category spend, savings and supplier performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology or a related field; master's degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of progressive experience in IT procurement, category management or strategic sourcing within a large, complex organisation.
• Proven track record negotiating and managing high-value IT contracts (hardware, software licenses, SaaS, professional services).
• Strong analytical skills, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
• Relevant professional certifications such as CIPS or CSCP are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in procurement systems such as SAP Ariba.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
