Optomechanical Senior Engineer

About the role

Satellogic is seeking a senior optomechanical engineer to lead the development of high‑performance imaging hardware for its Earth observation satellites. The role combines optical payload design, mechanical integration, and hands‑on validation to deliver flight‑ready telescopes and optical assemblies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end development of optical payload elements, from concept and modeling to detailed design and production.
• Define precise specifications for filters, telescopes, and other optical components.
• Collaborate with the optoelectronics and AIT teams to translate designs into verified hardware.
• Oversee supplier development, manufacturing processes, and key project milestones.
• Conduct rigorous calibration, testing, and experimental validation in labs and the manufacturing plant.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in optomechanical or optical engineering, preferably in aerospace or satellite applications.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel frequently to the Uruguay facility and work on‑site as needed.
