Nurse Consultant – Acute & Home Care Licensure

About the role

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services seeks a Nurse Consultant I to support the Acute and Home Care Licensure and Certification Section. The role involves conducting on‑site and office reviews of Home Care, Home Health, and Hospice agencies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform standard and complaint surveys on‑site to verify compliance with licensure and certification regulations.
• Prepare deficiency reports based on observations, record reviews, and interviews.
• Review and evaluate Plans of Correction submitted by providers.
• Provide clarification on licensure and certification processes to the public and providers.
• Intake and investigate public complaints and respond to information requests.
• Engage with health‑care associations, civic clubs, and professional organizations about licensure goals.

Required profile

• Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina.
• At least one year of nursing experience in home care, home health, or hospice settings.
• Strong clinical background with ability to assess compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
