Mechanical Services Specialist

About the role

The Mechanical Services Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, installing, and repairing mechanical systems and components on a thermal power plant under an O&M contract. The role involves both planned and unplanned interventions on a wide range of equipment to ensure reliable plant operation.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical failures of pumps, compressors, valves, and piping and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Test, repair, or replace defective components, including electric motor bearings.
• Align and adjust equipment according to specifications and maintain accurate repair records.
• Prepare and execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks using technical manuals and P&ID diagrams.
• Submit spare‑part requisitions via the MAXIMO system and collaborate with external contractors on investment projects.
• Ensure compliance with all plant safety procedures and regulations.

Required profile

• Recognised technical qualification in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum three years of mechanical experience in an industrial environment, preferably a combined‑cycle power plant.
• Ability to work unsupervised on mechanical tasks at the power station.
• Good organisational skills and achievement‑oriented mindset.

• Mechanical diagnosis and repair
• Knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, diesel engines, generators, heat recovery steam generators, air compressors, motors, pumps, piping and valves
• Electric motor bearing replacement
• Equipment alignment and adjustment
• MAXIMO work‑order and purchasing requisition system
• Interpretation of technical manuals and P&ID diagrams
• Preventive and corrective maintenance procedures
• Operation of machine tools such as lathe for small spare‑part fabrication
