Lead Security Engineer (AI-Native)

About the role

The Lead Security Engineer will shape Nerdy’s enterprise security and infrastructure strategy in an AWS‑first environment. This senior position blends strategic leadership with hands‑on operational oversight to protect assets, ensure compliance, and support rapid business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the enterprise security strategy.
• Partner with leaders to embed compliance, automation, and security best practices across the organization.
• Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
• Identify and remediate security gaps arising from rapid adoption of new tools and platforms.
• Oversee threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
• Ensure regulatory, privacy, and data‑protection compliance.
• Utilise AI‑powered tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalents) to implement security guardrails.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading enterprise security strategy in fast‑growing technology companies.
• Strong knowledge of compliance, privacy, and data‑protection regulations.
• Hands‑on expertise in business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional leaders and drive security best practices.
