LATAM Business Development and Application Technology Manager (Mining)

About the role

LANXESS is looking for a Business Development and Application Technology Manager for its ion exchange resin business in Latin America, with a focus on metals and mining applications such as lithium and copper-nickel. The role identifies new business opportunities, leads the local team toward growth objectives and expands the company's footprint across market segments in the assigned region.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and expand the footprint across market segments of the ion exchange resin business in the assigned region.
• Serve as an applications expert for metals and mining applications (e.g. lithium, copper-nickel) and recycling, chemical processing, and industrial and municipal water treatment, supporting local sales teams and channel partners with technical expertise.
• Build relationships with major clients, OEMs, industry and government stakeholders to secure long-term contracts and strategic projects.
• Provide technical support to customers and the regional sales team on technical service, product selection, troubleshooting and process optimization.
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences and regulatory forums to build brand visibility.
• Analyse new technical trends and the competitive environment, and identify and evaluate local cooperation partners in industry and academia.

Required profile

• BS/MSc degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering; MBA optional.
• More than 10 years of professional experience.
• Profound technical knowledge of business development or technical sales in the ion exchange resin/adsorber industry, with a wide network in the region.
• Entrepreneurial attitude, self-reliant and structured, able to cooperate in interdisciplinary and international teams.
• Presentation, communication to executives and project management skills, fluent English, and a proven record of commercial or project success.
