Interior Designer – Materials, Finishes & Specifications

About the role

CH Interior Design Studio is seeking a detail‑oriented Interior Designer to lead material, finish, and product specification for luxury residential projects. This remote position works closely with the Interior Design Director to translate design visions into curated selections that meet aesthetic, budget, and construction requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Research, source, and curate materials and finishes such as flooring, tile, stone, countertops, cabinetry, wall treatments, and decorative elements.
• Create and present cohesive material palettes, balancing aesthetics, quality, budget, and availability.
• Develop detailed selection schedules and specification sheets, including manufacturer details, dimensions, pricing, and lead times.
• Identify alternative products when selections exceed budget, are discontinued, or have long lead times.
• Collaborate with the Interior Design Director, architects, project managers, procurement, and construction teams to ensure selections are practical and executable.
• Maintain organized product libraries, samples, and documentation, and stay informed about emerging luxury design trends.

Required profile

• Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field (preferred).
• 3–5+ years of residential interior design experience, preferably in luxury custom homes or high‑end renovations.
• Proven ability to independently select and specify materials, finishes, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and hardware.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction materials, manufacturers, and vendor resources.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage selections across multiple projects.

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, elevations, and design plans.
• Strong communication skills for presenting design recommendations.
• Familiarity with design software and project‑management tools (a plus).
