Head of People – Remote HR Leadership

About the role

The Head of People will serve as the primary people partner for a fast‑growing, fully remote coaching and consulting business. Reporting to the COO, you will design and own end‑to‑end people processes, from hiring and onboarding to culture and leadership development, ensuring the team stays supported, aligned, and engaged.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the hiring pipeline, conduct initial screening of high‑volume applications, and coordinate multi‑stakeholder interviews.
• Lead salary negotiations, full‑cycle onboarding, and contract preparation for employees and contractors worldwide.
• Research tax and legal requirements for new US states or international hires and maintain compliance.
• Design and run leadership, professional development, and performance‑management programs, including KPI setting and regular reviews.
• Mediate conflicts, provide coaching support, and act as a trusted resource for workplace challenges.
• Support capacity planning, forecast hiring needs, and align budgets before opening roles.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in HR or People Operations, preferably in a small‑business or startup environment.
• Strong verbal and written English (C1 level) and experience with US‑based companies.
• Hands‑on experience with compensation negotiation, full‑cycle onboarding, and employee‑vs‑contractor classification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Gusto payroll platform.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Familiarity with Asana and Airtable for workflow management.
