Financial Controller

About the role

Holme & Hadfield is seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller to lead its finance function. Reporting to the COO, you will own the full accounting cycle and provide strategic insight for a fast‑growing DTC brand.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and produce full P&L and balance‑sheet reports.
• Track multi‑channel revenue and COGS across Shopify, Amazon and wholesale, calculating channel‑level contribution margins.
• Handle inventory accounting and landed‑cost methodology from Chinese manufacturing through US 3PL.
• Forecast cash flow, prepare lender reports and coordinate tax compliance in the US, UK and EU.
• Develop budgeting, rolling forecasts and management reporting for leadership.
• Continuously improve the finance stack and related processes.

Required profile

• Proven controllership experience with end‑to‑end close ownership.
• Background in physical‑goods businesses, imports and landed‑cost accounting.
• Comfort with hands‑on bookkeeping in a lean stack (QuickBooks Online or equivalent).
• Experience in e‑commerce/DTC environments preferred.
• Strong written and spoken English and ability to work in a distributed, async team.
• Self‑directed, able to build structure as the company scales.

What we offer

• Fully remote role, ~40 hours per week.
• Compensation $5,000–$6,500 USD per month, based on experience.
• Minimum 4‑hour overlap with UK working hours.
