Family Practitioner – Shared Practice in Nelson, BC

About the role

We are seeking a Board‑certified Family Physician to join a collaborative, shared‑practice primary care clinic in Nelson, British Columbia. The position offers a blended rural family medicine scope, combining longitudinal primary care, shared inpatient duties at Kootenay Lake Hospital, and participation in a rotating Doctor‑of‑the‑Day schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care to a shared patient panel alongside one other physician.
• Participate in shared inpatient coverage on a 12‑week rotation, with 1–5 inpatient days as needed.
• Engage in the Doctor‑of‑the‑Day hospital schedule, ensuring continuity of care.
• Offer virtual care services, including up to one dedicated virtual‑care day per week.
• Optionally contribute to a functional‑medicine clinic up to twice weekly.

Required profile

• Medical degree with certification in Family Medicine.
• Licensure to practice in British Columbia.
• Interest in collaborative, team‑based primary care environments.
• Flexibility to work part‑time (0.5–0.8 FTE) or full‑time, with adaptable scheduling.

• Proficiency in delivering virtual patient care.
• Ability to manage shared inpatient responsibilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for cross‑coverage.
