Data Engineer (Remote)

About the role

This full‑time remote position at Zaelot involves designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and product features for client teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise ETL processes and data pipelines using Databricks and/or Snowflake.
• Model data structures and implement data‑warehousing solutions ensuring high quality, performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and business stakeholders to translate data needs into technical solutions.
• Monitor data systems, troubleshoot production issues and contribute to documentation.
• Adopt best practices in security, governance and automation for data workflows.

Required profile

• Solid foundation in data‑engineering fundamentals with experience handling sensitive healthcare data.
• Hands‑on experience with Databricks (notebooks, jobs, clusters) and/or Snowflake (warehouses, sizing, workload management).
• Strong proficiency in SQL for querying, transforming and validating data across multiple sources.
• Practical experience designing end‑to‑end ETL processes and understanding pipeline architecture principles.
• Knowledge of HIPAA/PHI data‑governance and security compliance requirements.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production pipeline issues with strong attention to data quality.
