Controller (Remote)

About the role

B Consulting is seeking a remote Controller to partner with founders of high‑growth startups and early‑stage businesses. You will act as a trusted financial advisor, overseeing full‑cycle accounting, tax compliance, and financial planning while leading both onshore and offshore accounting teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close and produce accurate monthly financial statements.
• Analyze financial reports and present insights to founders.
• Manage external auditors, tax preparers, and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Oversee bookkeeping, reconciliations, accrual journal entries, AR, AP, payroll, and inventory management.
• Build financial models, budgets, cash forecasts, and three‑statement models.
• Implement and maintain accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) and related tools.
• Handle tax filings (federal, state, franchise) and manage tax credits and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in tech, CPG, or life‑science industries.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and accounting theory.
• Excellent communication and time‑management skills.

• QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite ERP systems.
• Expense tools: Expensify, Ramp, Concur, Bill.
• Payroll platforms: Gusto, JustWorks, Trinet, ADP.
• E‑commerce and payment platforms: Shopify, Amazon FBA, Stripe, PayPal.
• Inventory software: Cin7, Fishbowl, SOS.
• Financial modeling, three‑statement modeling, cash and accrual forecasting.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
