Backup Support Engineer – IT Infrastructure

About the role

We are looking for a Backup Support Engineer to provide on‑site, on‑call assistance for our IT infrastructure in General Rodriguez, Argentina. This non‑permanent, on‑demand role supports internal teams, vendors and remote engineers when the primary engineer is unavailable.

Key responsibilities

• Provide backup/on‑call support during primary engineer absences.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of network devices (switches, routers, wireless APs) – Cisco/Riverbed preferred.
• Configure VLANs and assign switch ports.
• Patch phone ports to switches and troubleshoot Avaya VoIP phones.
• Diagnose fiber link connectivity issues between switches.
• Replace hardware components such as switches and blades as needed.
• Conduct periodic visual checks of IDF rooms (UPS, cooling, PDU status).
• Assist with monitoring tools like SolarWinds.
• Support data‑center operations, including basic server, storage and OS troubleshooting.
• Update tickets in ServiceNow and perform basic Windows, Linux and UNIX support tasks.
• Provide elementary support for Active Directory, Exchange and file/print services.
• Coordinate with internal teams, vendors and remote engineers to ensure SLA adherence.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of IT infrastructure or deskside support experience.
• Basic networking knowledge (switching, routing, VLANs).
• Hardware troubleshooting and data‑center exposure.
• Experience with ITSM tools, preferably ServiceNow.
• Good communication and coordination abilities.
