Backend Software Engineer, DevOps

About the role

Avature is looking for a Backend Software Engineer with a strong DevOps focus to build and maintain the toolchain, automation, and environments that power its enterprise SaaS platform. You will act as a bridge between development and IT, ensuring reliable deployments and smooth collaboration across engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage the environments where Avature’s applications run, including cloud and on‑premise platforms.
• Develop and maintain deployment, configuration and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Terraform, Packer, Puppet and Docker.
• Automate environment creation, application provisioning and continuous testing.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure and operations teams to ensure clear communication and efficient delivery.
• Program complex, globally distributed operations and support scaling across multiple data centers.
• Perform code reviews, refactor existing code and improve overall code quality.

Required profile

• Solid software development background with strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Understanding of operating system concepts and infrastructure management.
• Willingness to learn or existing experience with virtualization and cloud technologies.
• Experience working in product‑as‑a‑service environments is a plus.
• Open‑source contributions or experience with Linux/Unix distributions are advantageous.

Required skills

• Programming languages: Python or PHP.
• Infrastructure as code: Terraform, Packer, Puppet.
• Virtualization/container platforms: AWS, KVM, LXD, Docker.
• CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance.
• Automation scripting and tool development.
