Backend Developer (Java & Spring Boot)

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Developer with solid Java and Spring Boot experience to join our team and work on a legacy project that requires refactoring and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for maintaining stability while evolving the system, tackling messy code, and delivering high‑quality backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, maintain, and improve existing Java (JDK 21) and Spring Boot 3.0.0 code.
• Develop and optimise REST API services.
• Write unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks and code‑quality issues.
• Manage JPA/Hibernate interactions with relational databases, especially Oracle.
• Work with Bitbucket repositories and follow established Git workflows.
• Deploy and manage services in OpenShift environments (desirable).
• Document refactoring efforts and collaborate to reduce technical debt.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of backend development experience.
• Autonomous, proactive, and comfortable with legacy code.
• Strong problem‑solving skills without constant supervision.
• Good oral and written communication in English (B1+).
