Registered Nurse – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Concordia Hospital. This position provides professional nursing care for patients recovering from surgery and anesthesia, ensuring safe and effective transitions to the next level of care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing assessments and interventions for post‑operative patients.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor vital signs, including cardiac rhythms.
• Coordinate patient discharge planning and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
• Provide standby coverage during days, evenings, weekends, and as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital policies and standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
• Minimum two years recent experience in PACU, critical care, acute surgical or emergency resuscitation settings.
• Current satisfactory employment record.
• Ability to work a 0.70 FTE schedule with flexible shift coverage.

Required skills

• Cardiac monitoring proficiency (or willingness to obtain within three months).
• Current ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain within three months).
• Valid CNA certification or equivalent for the program area.
