Senior Project Director – Major Mining Projects

About the role

Worley is seeking a Senior Project Director to lead large‑scale mining projects worldwide. You will be responsible for delivering complex, high‑risk programmes from concept through commissioning, ensuring technical, fiscal and administrative excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full lifecycle of one or more mega‑projects, including planning, directing, supervising and controlling all functions.
• Manage procurement, subcontracting and mixed contracting strategies (unit price, lump sum, reimbursable).
• Handle complex scope changes and provide accurate, timely project performance information.
• Lead project leads or managers and act as proposal manager for large contracts.
• Spend time in the field to implement engineered solutions and ensure successful hand‑over.

Required profile

• 20+ years overall experience with at least 15 years in senior supervisory or project management roles.
• Proven ability to manage large, high‑risk projects in the mining or related sectors.
• Professional registration in the local jurisdiction and a certified program management credential (IPMA, APM, PMI, AIPM).
• University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Access and Visio.
• Experience using Worley’s project delivery methodology and associated tools.
• Ability to organise information from multiple sources and adhere to prescribed formats and policies.
