Backend Engineer

About the role

Nango, a YC‑backed developer infrastructure company, is looking for senior and staff backend engineers to join its core engineering team. This remote‑first position will help build and scale the platform that powers API access for agents and apps used by hundreds of paying customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and scale backend systems, APIs, and services for an open‑source platform.
• Build developer‑focused interfaces including APIs, SDKs, UIs, and runtimes.
• Collaborate directly with customers to solve integration challenges.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of backend services.
• Shape product roadmap and company strategy with high ownership of decisions.
• Engage with the open‑source community and maintain the repository.

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior‑level or 10+ years of staff‑level backend engineering experience.
• Proven ability to scale high‑traffic, performance‑critical systems.
• Deep experience with developer infrastructure, APIs, and databases.
• Passion for developer tools and delivering excellent developer experience.
• Comfortable working in a remote‑first environment with strong communication skills.
• Product mindset, pragmatic attitude, and ability to operate autonomously in a startup setting.
• Based in North America, LATAM, or Europe.
